This week sees continued progress on the post-production stage of Aria Starlight. The film editing has reached the halfway stage, and the director is liaising with the film editor, special effects artist and sound designer.

Also this week, the film’s two composers will have their first meeting to start the process of finding the film’s emotional notes through its musical score. First up will be a discussion about the tone of the film. One of the composers has already started sketching out ideas by recording these in the studio, using sampled instruments and synthesised sounds. These are just experiments, though – the path of discovering what may work and what won’t. Experimentation is a very useful way of finding the tonal fit. There’s no one approach, of course – there is no one ‘right’ answer, just myriad possibilities and choices to be made. We’ll let you know how it goes as the scoring and recording work takes place through October.
