One of the highlights of LSF 2026 was a special screening of the 2008 blockbuster hit Twilight. The difference was, the film’s director, Catherine Hardwicke, was there to talk us through the film. We got so many insights into how the film was planned, cast and made. it was a real education to see how the ingenuity of the team brought the film to life. And it cemented my belief in the description of filming as ‘Now get out of that!’ Films at every level require constant problem solving. The only difference is the budget – and therefore perhaps the stakes – are higher with a film like Twilight. Catherine brought a great deal of honesty, charm and wit to the event. A very special night!
